For a blog, I like the ability to add gadgets that add zest and fun -- vokis, playlists. I can see a blog being used in the library for:
- blog how-tos,
- book talks,
- class assignments, due dates,
- links for special projects,
- book fair photos and comments,
- school promos and special events,
- AND SO MUCH MORE.
For a wiki, I like the multi-page method of organization, which allows you to choose a narrow topic with a click, instead of tedious scrolling. I also like the sidebar, which displays important content, no matter what page you're viewing. I can see the wiki being used in the library for:
- all-class project,
- small group projects,
- submission of assignments,
- links for special projects,
- instructions and how-tos,
- AND MUCH MORE.
It's a toss-up for which I favor most -- blogs or wikis -- so why choose? I'll use both. The post and comment blog has its place, and so does the collaborative wiki.

Nice post - and you are right - why choose? I was such a blog fiend until I started playing with wikis and they really do each fill a need.
